Introduction

Dinnington Rugby Union Football Club is a thriving, community-focused club currently competing at Counties 1 level. Founded in 1968, the Club has grown steadily and now supports:

  • Three senior men’s teams
  • A strong Colts setup
  • A successful Minis and Juniors section for boys and girls
  • A growing Walking Rugby programme

The Club operates for charitable purposes, which are:

  • To advance public participation in sport, particularly Rugby Union, in order to improve health and wellbeing
  • To provide, develop, manage and promote recreational facilities and activities for public benefit
  • To provide education, coaching and training in sport, fitness and related skills for children, young people and adults
  • To work in partnership with others involved in sport to further these aims

The Role

Following a period of change within the Club, we are seeking to appoint a Club Honorary Secretary. This is a key role, offering the opportunity to help guide and shape the future of a well-established and respected rugby club.

The Honorary Secretary is the principal administrator of the Club and plays a pivotal role in its day-to-day and strategic operation. The role involves close involvement with the Committee and Trustees and acts as a central point of contact for internal and external communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main communication link between the Committee, sub-committees, members, leagues and other clubs
  • Manage and record all inward and outward correspondence, including legal and insurance matters
  • Maintain accurate records of current and former members and provide required information to the RFU
  • Distribute relevant forms, publications and information to officers and members
  • Organise the AGM, Executive Committee and Club meetings, including preparation of agendas, papers and minutes
  • Communicate important information from leagues and the RFU to the Committee and members
  • Maintain a working knowledge of league and RFU rules and regulations

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong organisational and administration skills
  • Good management and communication skills
  • Confidence in dealing with a wide range of people
  • Good IT skills
  • A good working knowledge of meeting procedures
  • A conscientious and reliable approach

Additional Information

This is a voluntary role and carries no remuneration.
The Honorary Secretary is accountable to the membership of DRUFC and responsible to the Trustees of the Club.
