At Dinnington RUFC, we're passionate about nurturing the next generation of rugby stars through our Mini and Junior Rugby programs. Our club offers a supportive and fun environment where children can learn the fundamentals of rugby, develop their skills, and make lasting friendships. Here's everything you need to know about our Mini and Junior Rugby setup:
Age Grades:
-
Minis (U6-U11):
- Our Minis program caters to children aged 4 to 11 years old, spanning from Under 6 to Under 11 age groups.
- Children in these age grades are introduced to the basics of rugby in a safe and enjoyable manner, focusing on fundamental skills such as passing, catching, and teamwork.
-
Juniors (U12-U18):
- Our Juniors program is tailored for young players aged 12 to 18 years old, covering age groups from Under 12 to Under 18.
- Junior players continue to develop their rugby abilities with a stronger emphasis on game understanding, tactics, and physical conditioning.
Training and Playing Nights:
-
Training: Our Mini and Junior teams typically train on Wednesday, 6-7 up to U12 and 7-8 U13 onwards. Training sessions are led by experienced coaches who provide expert guidance and support to help players improve their skills and knowledge of the game. Micros age 4-6 train on a Sunday morning.
-
Matches: We organize fixtures and matches against other clubs throughout the season. Match days may vary depending on the fixtures schedule and age group, but they often take place on Sunday Mornings for up to U12 and Sunday afternoons U13's onwards.
What to Expect:
-
Fun and Inclusive Environment: We prioritize creating a fun and inclusive environment where children of all abilities can participate and enjoy rugby. Our coaches focus on fostering a love for the game while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
-
Skill Development: Mini and Junior players have the opportunity to develop their rugby skills through structured training sessions and competitive matches. Coaches provide age-appropriate drills and activities to help players progress and reach their potential.
-
Social Interaction: Rugby is more than just a sport—it's a community. Mini and Junior players have the chance to form friendships with their teammates and create lasting memories both on and off the field.
-
Parental Involvement: We encourage parental involvement and support throughout the Mini and Junior rugby journey. Whether it's cheering from the sidelines or volunteering to help with team activities, parents play a crucial role in the success of our program.
