Dinnington RUFC

After a brilliant start, strong carrying forward play and two tries from Kai Ramrattan it seemed Dinnington had the blueprint for how to make the game theirs and were probably going to have it all their way, unfortunately Roundhegians had other ideas! A responsive try converted and two penalties to end the half meant that Dinnington went into the second half only one point up at 14-13. Roundhegians kicker proving that last years last play conversion wasn’t a fluke and he would continue to be a thorn in their side!
The second half started much like the first with Dinningtons forwards powerfully getting them into scoring positions. Dean Mcaulay powered over from close range but unfortunately the half would turn tit for tat. Roundhegians scoring to stay on the heels of Dinnington. A loose pass followed by slick footwork from Rob Leivars and a brilliant pass to put Ben White down the wing before feeding the ball back to Rob to score on a great support line. Dinnington must have been thinking this would be the time they pulled away like they have done in multiple games this season. Roundhegians not sticking to Dinnington script scored two well worked trys with their kicker slotting the conversion to put them ahead 3 minutes from the end. Not deterred Dinnington showed real grit to win the ball back and get into a possible scoring position. Finally the pressure lead to a penalty which Ben White bravely stepped up to take on 1 minute from time. To the relief of Dinnington players and fans alike he slotted it and Dinnington held on for a hard thought tight victory. Plenty of experience in winning tight games gained but Dinnington will be feeling they left a lot of points out there. A mention must be given to MoM Arno Hooghiemstra who was monumental around the park and even switched to hooker after injuries!
