📣DINNINGTON DOMINATE VANDALS IN 62-3 ROUT📣

Dinnington welcomed fourth-placed Halifax Vandals to Lodge Lane on Saturday in a match that promised a fierce contest but delivered a rugby masterclass from the hosts. Halifax started strong, notching an early penalty, but Dinnington’s Jonny West quickly levelled the score with a penalty of his own. Though Halifax held the upper hand in the scrum, Dinnington showed determination and adaptability, turning to their much-improved lineout for control. It was from a 5-metre lineout that the deadlock was broken. The Dinnington forwards powered in like a freight train, and Dean McAulay emerged with the ball to score, with West adding the conversion. A second penalty from West saw Dinnington take a 13-3 lead into halftime.
With the slope now in their favour, Dinnington attacked with fresh energy. A wide ball from a lineout found the electric Rob Levers, who touched down, and West converted for a 20-3 lead. Straight from the kick off, after a superb display of offloads, Harry Pinder ran in another try, again converted by the ever-reliable West. Mike Leitch went over next from strong carries and slick handling, followed by the evergreen Gary Woodcock, who rolled over to claim his try. West’s pinpoint kicking continued to punish Halifax, converting both tries. Man of the match James Egerton, was pivotal in setting up Dinnington’s next try, soaring at the apex of his jump to secure the ball before it was spun wide to Maine Bunting for another score. West converted once again, bringing the score to 48-3. Kai Ramrattan added two more tries to seal Dinnington’s dominant performance with West making it eight from eight on conversions. Dinnington’s final score took them to an emphatic 62-3 victory. There is no 1st XV fixture next week but the 2nd XV play Doncaster Phoenix at home and look to continue their winning streak after a thrilling 24-22 triumph over Sheffield Oaks, led by a brace from Riley Savage, one try from Callum Harmston, and accurate kicking from Will Cockerham. It’s shaping up to be a season to remember for Dinnington rugby! #upthedinno #Localrugby #counties2yorkshire #dinnington #rugby #yorkshirerugby
