Wortley RUFC
Dinnington RUFC

Dinnington 2nds travelled with a strong squad with plenty of youth and experience to Wortley for their first away game of the season.

Dinnington started the first half the stronger, with strong carrying from both forwards and backs, with Dan Noble making his debut for the 2s scoring after around 10 minutes. Wortley then had a period of pressure which assisted by some poor discipline in the tackle saw the home team level the scores at the 20 minute mark.

Dinnington then rolled up their sleeves and worked back to force their way back into the Wortley 22, a penalty given 5 yards from the line was taken quickly by Steve Leitch to score in the corner. Again Wortley came back in the remainder of the half and benefited from more indiscipline by Dinnington which saw Ryan Corker sent to the bin with 3 minutes to play, Wortley scored in the corner to close the half 10 - 10.

Wortley started the second half the stronger and scored two tries in the third quarter, but Dinnington kept their chins up and had the better of the play in the remaining 20 minutes, however Wortley’s defence held firm, until 6 minutes from time when Ryan Corker went over following strong carrying in the forwards. Dinnington continued to press for the remainder of the game but the Wortley defence continued to hold strong.

Final score 20-15
